Making a Difference
/Originally written in November 2018
Some people made their New Years Resolutions in Jan. 2018. Some made them come true! But whether you made resolutions or not or made a Strategic Plan for your organization or not, you have done a variety of things in 2018.
How have you done?
What went well?
What would you have done differently?
How will you finish off the year?
What do you have to be grateful for?
If you often ask for help, do you also give help, in new ways to new people?
Have you communicated your appreciation to other people, especially those closest to you?
Have you made a difference?
THIS YEAR in many places there have many challenges. In California, some of our recent catastrophes have been with the wildfires in both northern and southern parts of our state. The impact on hundreds of thousands of families is shocking.
Part of what has emerged from these horrific tragedies is the generosity of people who are coming together to help and serve. For some like the first responders, it is the work they have a passion to do. When the surrounding and global communities step up to donate, share, open their home, or contribute however they can, it’s why we are on this earth, to live well with each other. I’m proud to say that everyone I know who I have talked to has taken time to donate. That’s a huge outpouring of care.
The wonderful stories of how heroes saved people and pets have also been reported. Did you read the story about the school bus driver who raced his bus through the flames with 22 children and several teachers onboard to save their lives?
MORE THAN ANYTHING AT THIS THANKSGIVING TIME, I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO EACH OF YOU, IN WHATEVER SMALL OR LARGE WAY YOU CAN HELP OTHER PEOPLE.
In my next short newsletter, I’ll address some more questions that leaders face. Watch for some new insights to issues you may struggle with.
