A. Let’s look at fear. It’s a feeling of emotion. It doesn’t have to be rational, and many times fears are irrational. Some people have a fear (of spiders, or flying, or change) while others don’t have it all. Fear is individual, but can become collective. To specifically address the fear of uncertainty, the best thing to do is to discuss it with others. Define it. Consider where the causes of the fear are coming from. Then flip the fear. If you’re fearful about what’s uncertain (the unknown), the issue is that you’re fearful of losing control. Fears are often interconnected.
When you flip it, discuss “What are we certain about? What do we know? What can we anticipate that will help us move into the future?” These questions will help identify the reality, the possibilities, help you move into the future and make progress. Envision and start developing the future you want together. Remove the barriers you feel and see. Keep flipping ideas and actions together so you can build momentum and feel that you are gaining control of the work you need to do and the connections you need with customers.
